K.D. Feddersen attended 2018 Chinaplas with three major businesses to celebrate its twentieth anniversary in China

Shanghai, China - Recently, K.D. Feddersen  made a  stunning appearance at the  China International Plastics & Rubber Industry Exhibition (CHINAPLAS) with three major businesses, including the engineering plastics distribution business K.D. Feddersen, the engineering plastics modification  business AKRO-PLASTIC and the polymer & film distribution business TRANSEURASIA, to demonstrate its cutting-edge product portfolio and innovative technologies for different material  market segments.

Twenty years of splendid effort

The world and  plastics are both colorful. Whether it is the poetry of nature that triggers the colorful inspiration for plastics,  or it is the dynamics of plastics that stuns the colorful world might be an unanswerable question, just like "which came first, the chicken or the egg." No ground for blame, however, the quick-witted plastic particles have transformed into plastic products that enrich colors of this world .

Only the gorgeous and diversified colors can become the most beautiful representative of spring, a season with growing grass and flying birds. At this year's Chinaplas, we use colors to tell you the story about K.D. Feddersen  and plastic materials.

Gold - glory

In 1998, K.D.F. Distribution (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. was founded in Shanghai. Since then, our plastics distribution business began establishing its presence in the Chinese market and K.D. Feddersen  began its journey in China. 2018 marks the twentieth year since we started our  business in China. Like a babbling child, we have undergone ignorance and are moving toward maturity. Till this golden year of our China operations, we have been marching forward with the youthful spirit and strong momentum. We do not fear the future of "competing in the fierce marketplace," nor will we forget our original intent of "putting employees and customers first”.

Orange - greatness

Our K.D. Feddersen engineering plastics distribution business is responsible for distributing various engineering thermoplastic materials used in industries such as automotive, IT, electronic and electrical, machinery and construction, etc. We work with the world's leading plastics suppliers, including Lyondellbasell, Celanese, Covestro, Ineos Styrolution, and Dow.

Unlike traditional "one-stop purchase solution suppliers ", our plastics distribution team has established a "business ecosystem" and common value platform for customers and suppliers: utilizing powerful supplier resources, rich material selection experience, sophisticated logistics network and professional technical support.   We provide solutions for material selection, supply chain optimization, and assist our customers in increasing the value of their products allowing them to gain advantages in the fiercely competing market environment.

At this exhibition, five major brand suppliers displayed their products in both automotive and non-automotive application fields.

As the new business segment founded in 2017, TRANSEURASIA distributes biopolymer, silicone as well as liquid rubber and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene products which focuses on non-injection molding processes . This year, TRANSEURASIA brought some "vivid and interesting" products that attracted many customers.

Among them, the artificial limb and mask models made of Polytek liquid silicone rubber drew much attention by providing a resemblance of up to 99.9%.  The product offers  good flowability, quick vulcanization, excellent safety, environment-friendliness and the ability to completely meet food-grade requirements.  The Polytek liquid silicone rubber is widely used in special effect industries.

Blue - steadiness

As a professional modified engineering plastics supplier from Germany, AKRO-PLASTIC mainly manufactures AKROMID® trademarked PA 6, PA 6.6 and PPA, AKROLOY® trademarked PA 6.6/PPA alloy materials and color matching products at its Suzhou factory. During this year's Chinaplas, AKRO-PLASTIC showcased its lightweight solution, a new plasma technology for bonding plastics to metals as well as the Innovative Compounding and Extrusion (ICX®) technology.

Lightweight solution - carbon fiber reinforced series ICF plastics

AKRO-PLASTIC's brand new carbon fiber reinforced series ICF plastics use PA6, PA6.6, PPA or semi-aromatic PA6.6 (AKROLOY®) as their substrate, making it the star products in the market. Their carbon fiber content ranges between approximately 10% and 40%. In addition to offering the characteristics of carbon fiber reinforced materials such as high modulus and high specific strength, ICF products also have other significant advantages like easy formability, low costs and so on.

The ICF Series products are already widely used in automobile chassis, interior and exterior trims, engine perimeters and various functional structural components.
The BMW car's clutch pedal made of AKRO-PLASTIC's carbon fiber reinforced material is simply one of their success cases. Featuring a carbon fiber content of approximately 10% and made with the water-aided injection molding technology, this component offers more outstanding overall mechanical properties by reducing weight by 10%, achieving a breaking strength up to 1,100N and providing 25% more rigidity. This component together with the pedal bearing block won the first prize in powertrain assembly category at the SPE award-giving ceremony in 2016.

Bonding between plastics and metals is very common in many industrial applications. Without a special sealant, however, moisture, air or other media will still penetrate through the bonding surface of the two materials. In order to avoid component failure due to penetration, Plasmatreat and AKRO-PLASTIC have jointly developed a new application that utilizes a new plasma sealing technique to provide tight bonding that is highly robust and media resistant. Compared to traditional processes, the new Plasma-SealTight® technology can significantly increase the strength and tightness of adhesion between plastic and metal.

In order to more accurately study the impact of preformed polymer and modified plastic of the plasma seal on the durability of plastic-metal bonding, AKRO installed a series of production units at its factory in Niederzissen, Germany, including a molding machine (Sumitomo (SHI) Demag), Plasmatreat equipment and 2 Kuka robots, and tried to identify different factors affecting the bonding strength through tests so as to develop optimized metal-material combinations as the system solution.

"Stricter order delivery deadlines, consistent product quality, more diverse products, global supply capacity and extremely competitive pricing, all these constitute our competitive advantage," said Mr. Thilo Stier, Director of Global Sales and Innovation of AKRO-PLASTIC, "Our goal is to ensure customer satisfaction, maintain our competitive advantage and always remain invincible."

ICX® is a technology jointly developed by AKRO-PLASTIC and its sister company, the extruder manufacturer Feddem. It can ensure consistent product quality between different batches regardless of the production environment and production time. Consisting of the same kind of equipment, peripheral techniques and unified process flow, this technology is employed at all global production bases of AKRO-PLASTIC. We utilize raw materials of the same quality, certified quality management system and our own laboratories to ensure superior product quality.

White - technology

At this Chinaplas, we continued to use our previous design style with white as the primary color to build a bright, fresh, clean and crisp sense of technology. The entire stand featured concise lines, simple colors and a strong sense of integration. Clear functional planning with white as the base color enabled our product display areas to use different color blocks to distinguish business modules. They were well spaced around the stand to provide a more inclusive welcoming environment for customers to learn, consult and discuss product information.

Red - warm-heartedness

There was no red at the stand, but we could feel it with our heart. Our warmhearted technical and sales experts were constantly introducing our products and technologies to customers from all over the world

Green - sustainability

For 20 years, we have always been advocating and sticking to the original intent that we have constantly been working hard for, i.e. providing customers with "green, environment-friendly, scientific and innovative" top-quality products. When it comes to materials, we admire low-density products that feature resources recyclability and facilitate emission reductions. As far as production management and control is concerned, we advocate more scientific and efficient management model to increase productivity and reduce energy consumption.

For 20 years, what we do has proved we are and will always be forging ahead with original intent!
